Heather’s Choice® meals were developed to provide a healthy food option for backcountry enthusiasts. Inspired by home-cooked meals and her educational background in nutrition, Heather’s recipes were formed around three key principles: an emphasis on using sustainable proteins, such as 100% grass-fed bison or humanely harvested venison; the food must be lightweight and packable; and the meals must be dehydrated - a manner that is less energy intensive than more popular methods used in making trail food. Our salmon is wild-caught and then cold-smoked by the hands of our friends at Tilgner’s Specialty Seafoods in Deep Creek, AK. Six ounces of smoked Sockeye salmon, peas, carrots, and potatoes are added to our chowder and lightly spiced with dill and cayenne pepper. This recipe is an Alaskan dish that anyone can enjoy!
