Food Production Assistant

The Food Production Assistant role is a great opportunity to join the Heather's Choice team, to learn food manufacturing and to be a part of the small business/startup culture right here in Anchorage, Alaska. Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Cleaning
- Hand washing Dishes
- Cutting Vegetables
- Weighing Up Ingredients
- Cooking Large Batches of food in a steam kettle
- Making Large Batches of Packaroons
- Dehydrating Dinner Meals and Packaroons
- Keen awareness of the importance of sanitation and cleanliness
- Packaging Dinner Meals, Breakfast Meals, and Packaroons
- Receiving and Breaking Down Shipments of Food Ingredients
- Operating Commercial Grade Kitchen and Manufacturing Equipment
- Moving Heavy Boxes
- Standing on Your Feet 8 to 10 hours per Day on Concrete Floors
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. safely and repeatedly
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. over your head
- Working safely and respectfully alongside other valuable team members
- Written documentation of all activities - this is manufacturing, not restaurant work
- Following specific written and verbal instructions
Requirements:
- A positive attitude is far more important than food manufacturing experience at Heather's Choice
- A desire to work as a member of a team and accomplish daily team goals
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to learn quickly and take responsibility/ownership for yourself and for team goals
- Ability to take direction from managers, production lead, and peers
- A high degree of flexibility as our business grows and changes weekly
- Strong high-level awareness in the working environment
- Ability to work safely and maintain a steady, brisk pace of work all day, day-in-and-day-out
- Follow directions as trained and not deviate from instructions
- Be innovative and present creative solutions to peers and to leadership
- Must have neat, legible handwriting
- Ability to document your activities on paper forms with clarity and precision
- The ability to speak up for yourself and voice your questions and concerns
- Flexible schedule that allows working evenings and weekends
- Excellent attendance - you must show up on time, ready to go to work
- Municipal Food Worker's Card within 30 days of hire (can be obtained online)
- Good personal hygiene
