My name is Heather Kelly and I love food and adventures!

Born and raised in Bird Creek, Alaska, I grew up eating the best food on the planet. My mom would feed me fish head soup, organic peas and wild raspberries on a daily basis. I was born to be a foodie.

I was a collegiate rower for Western Washington University for four years and helped my team win two NCAA National Championships in the varsity eight. I was voted CRCA/Pocock All-American my senior year and earned my bachelors degree in evolutionary sports nutrition.

From there, I went on to study at the Institute for the Psychology of Eating in Boulder, Colorado and am now a certified psychology of eating coach.

I started my own business, OPENutrition, after joining CrossFit North Fort Collins in 2011. I quickly started taking on clients and doing live seminars for CrossFit gyms all the way from Alaska to Rhode Island.

I now run OPENutrition remotely, taking clients over the phone and doing live webinars weekly.

I started playing with my food dehydrator before my first 25 day rafting trip on the Grand Canyon in 2010. I spent the better part of three weeks dehydrating over 50 lbs of food! I was determined to eat healthy while rowing a couple thousand boat over 200 some odd miles of white water.

That was four years ago, and here I am again getting crazy in the kitchen and dehydrating the most nutrient dense, delicious food you can get! I’ve packed my own food for extended rafting trips, packrafting adventures, backpacking, canoeing, road trips, overseas travel and more! I’m excited to be on the road field testing my Heather’s Choice meals! I will be in all the beautiful places between Utah and Alaska for the next few months! And from there…who knows! I’ve got my eye on Peru and another Grand Canyon trip in January!

Thanks for visiting the site! I will be posting my trip reports on the adventure blog, my current diet on the adventure menu, as well as updates on when you can order your Heather’s Choice Meals for Adventuring, which I hope will be sooner than later.

Don’t forget to drop in your email for live updates from the road!
